Tânia Dinis, Rebecca Moradalizadeh, Maria Oliveira, Marta Ramos e Xavier Paes foram convidada/os a fazerem uma residência artística na Escola de Macieira, uma antiga escola primária do chamado Plano dos Centenários, transformada em habitação no início do ano de 2020 numa recuperação desenhada por Daniel Moreira, e que se situa na última aldeia da Serra de São Macário, a 1054m de altitude, no território das Montanhas Mágicas, na Beira Alta.

Daniel Moreira e Rita Castro Neves já fazem da escola uma das suas residências, interessando-lhes precisamente aprofundar temáticas que já exploram no seu trabalho, e ver surgir destas colaborações conhecimento novo, incluindo sobre possibilidades outras de representação do território rural interior português, sobre a vida em alta montanha e a experiência de atravessar território, a partir do trabalho concreto desta/es artistas, das suas pesquisas e deambulações, dos seus interesses particulares e por fim, das suas intensas criações.

As residências que tiveram o seu período mais intenso durante o mês de agosto de 2021, tiveram duração flexível, em função das necessidades, disponibilidades e desejos de cada um/a e acabaram por se concretizar numa tessitura complexa de encontros, sobreposição de calendários, partilha de espaço, descoberta do lugar, explorações em trânsito e na quietude, a partir dos emparelhamentos propostos, mas bem para lá deles.

Tânia Dinis, Rebecca Moradalizadeh, Maria Oliveira, Marta Ramos and Xavier Paes were invited to make an artist residency at the School of Macieira, an old primary school from the so called Plano dos Centenários, transformed into housing in the beginning of 2020 in a rehabilitation designed by Daniel Moreira, and located in the last village of Serra de São Macário, at 1054m altitude, in the territory of the Magic Mountains, in Beira Alta.

Daniel Moreira and Rita Castro Neves have already made the school one of their residencies. They are interested in deepening the themes they already explore in their work, and in seeing new knowledge emerge from these collaborations, including about other possibilities of representing the rural territory of the Portuguese interior, about life in the high mountains and the experience of crossing territory, based on the concrete work of these artists, their research and wanderings, their particular interests and, finally, their intense creations.

The residencies, which had their most intense period during the month of August 2021, had a flexible duration, according to the needs, availabilities and desires of each one and ended up being materialized in a complex weaving of encounters, overlapping of calendars, sharing of space, discovery of the place, explorations in transit and in the stillness, from the proposed pairings, but well beyond them.
